MMA Shorts Fit and Design

Materials and Build

Mixed martial arts training and competition can put an unusually strong wear on clothing and equipment used in MMA. It is therefore important that MMA shorts are design to the highest possible standards to keep up with vigorous and unforgiving training routines. The materials used to make MMA shorts can vary greatly, but because of MMA’s high workout intensity, it is often best to select shorts made of synthetic fabrics. Sweat and moisture from training exercises can accumulate and soak materials such as cotton, producing a heavy and uncomfortable wetness feeling for the wearer. Fabrics like nylon are better suited for MMA shorts because they are not able to carry near as much liquid.

Fit and Design

MMA places a heavy emphasis on wrestling and jujitsu. These activities require fighters to grappling with their opponents, and such, the clothing worn by MMA competitors is subjected to a lot of friction and pull. Good MMA shorts will have an elastic waistband and drawstrings to make sure they fit snuggly around the midsection of the fighter and not move during training. Kicking is another essential activity in MMA, and requires that a pair of MMA shorts are cut to allow the full extension of the leg in any directions. If the shorts are too constricted around the hips and leg openings, and are not made of a flexible material, movement of the leg will be detrimentally affected.
